Our story begins in 1989 as seventh-graders at Bowie Jr. High School. Supposedly, Wayland saw me and vowed I was the girl he was going to marry. I’m not so sure. We started “going out” the first time in 9th grade…that only lasted a few weeks, but after several runs we found our groove and we’ve been together ever since. We married young – it definitely didn’t make things any easier, but neither one of us would change a thing. We truly felt we could live on love, and I guess in many ways we have. Nine months and 3 weeks after “I do,” our first son, Nathanael was born. Philip came along a little over 18 months later. Wow – this living on love thing was harder than we expected. As Wayland worked two jobs, and I swam in a sea of diapers, doctors visits, and a heavy supply of “No-Doze”, our love was put to the test-but emerged stronger. We tackled a devastating miscarriage, experienced the delight of our daughter’s birth (Anna Elizabeth), and moved from our hometown in Texas to Albuquerque, NM in about a 16 month time period. A true faith builder and another opportunity for our love to be strengthened. Although we loved New Mexico, we were only there about 18 months before we moved to Indiana. God had big surprises for us here – like the news of our little Luke’s birth only months after we unpacked. Our family complete, we continue to grow in our love for our Savior and for one another. There is truly never a dull moment in our house, and most days, we wouldn’t have it any other way.
I miss yall every day!! Wish we could be closer..
THIS IS A WONDERFUL LOVE STORY, AND ONE THAT I GOT TO SEE UNFOLD, (AS MUCH AS ANY MOTHER CAN), AND WAY IS RIGHT ABOUT HIS TRAIN OF THOUGHT, HE WOULD PICK ME UP IN ODESSA, AND TAKE ME BACK TO NM FOR A VISIT, AND DURING THIS LONG DRIVE, HE WOULD INTERTAIN ME FOR HOURS, WITH HARDLY A WORD FROM ME, HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY, THAT’S WAY.
ALSO, I REMEMBER WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT HE AND K WERE GETTING MARRIED, (MY ONLY WORRY WAS THEIR AGE), BUT HE TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE OK, THEY HAD FIGURED THEIR BUDGET AND THAT THEY WOULD HAVE $100.00 LEFT AT THE END OF EACH MONTH…….
THAT LEFT ME COMPLETELY SPEECHLESS. BUT, THESE TWO CHILDREN HAVE ALWAYS PUT THEIR FAITH IN THE LORD, AND IT HAS STOOD THEM WELL. I LOVE YOU WAY AND KAY, ALWAYS STAY AS CLOSE AS YOU CAN TO EACH OTHER, TOGETHER YOU CAN CONQUER ALL.
This made me cry…..beautiful. I love the way you tell a story, always have. LOVE!
