Week in Review
July 12, 2009
Well, TEAMThompson is flying solo again. My sister and brother, along with my precious nephew and niece, left Indiana this morning to head back to the Lone Star State. Honestly, I’m wiped out. Don’t get me wrong, we had a great time - all ten of us together, but I am completely wiped out. My poor sister is too. Those of you who are moms know how hard it is to travel with small children. It’s just hard to be at someone else’s house; on someone else’s schedule. It’s even harder to do it for five full days, and then face a twelve hour drive home. I’m feeling a little guilty that I have spent a good portion of my day on the couch, vowing that I wasn’t moving unless the house was burning down around me. I just need a little recoup time before a really busy week ensues on Monday morning. Two football camps, Adventure Week (our VBS), working at the school (time to get ready to go back already!), fixing our septic system and connecting to the sewer, doctor appointments…it’s going to be a hectic one, for sure.
Until then, I’m just going to focus on the great time we had this past week. Hanging out, cooking out, playing games, swimming, go-karting, mini golfing, sight-seeing, museum experiencing, downtown eating, creek stomping, crawdad and snake hunting…we packed it pretty full. I had a great time reconnecting with my sister, and loved seeing our children play together. One of my favorite moments was when Noah looked at me and said, “Aunt Kaleesha – you’re the best Aunt Kaleesha in the world.” What a sweetie! Kenzie Jo fell pretty hard for cousin Philip (even though it was Nathanael who kept pushing her in the swing – one of her favorite things to do). I think she wanted Philip to hold her the entire time at the museum and walking around downtown Indy. Anna E. just loved everyone and was really sad to see her family say goodbye. (She even got down her bag to try and hitch a ride back to Texas with them!) Luke’s breathing started getting yucky and he began running a fever yesterday, but it didn’t keep him from soaking up as much playtime with his cousins as possible. He’s told me several times already that he misses them. Everyone was a little surprised to see just how much our Nathanael is growing up, both in stature and personality. Wayland was in his element (trying his hardest to live up to one of his hero’s, the late Steve Irwin) taking everyone creek stomping and nature hunting. The big boys played many rounds of golf on the X-box with Uncle Kaleb, and Anna E. and Luke snuck up into his lap or onto his back when they saw an opportunity. I just can’t get over my baby brother. He’s going to be 18 in less than two weeks. It just doesn’t seem possible. He’s a great kid young man. Quite the comedian, as well. I have no doubt he’s going to turn out just fine!
In a little over a month, my other two sweet nieces (Reece and Rynn) are coming to see us (along with their sweet Mommy and Daddy) – I can’t wait! Well, actually – I had better. After some much needed rest, TEAMThompson will be ready to go at it again; doing something we all love and cherish dearly, spending time with family!

Digging for dinosaur bones at the Children's Museum...(thanks Sissy and PaPa for the pass - we're going to enjoy it time and time again!)

Ohhhhh!!! It sounds like y’all had a great time catching up and making memories. I love the pictures!!
I’m also glad you have over a month to rest up before our crew invades your house!
What a wonderful blessing to spend precious time with family. I know you savored every moment. Rest well, and enjoy your next sweet visit in a few weeks. Can’t wait to see those pics, too (and loved all of these, by the way)!
